Alan Wayne Borovetz, 62, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away August 2, 2025, in Wichita. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 2025, at First Church of the Nazarene, 3835 County Rd 3900, Independence, KS 67301, with open viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM. A private family burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be established through Webb and Rodrick Funeral Home.
Alan was born May 27, 1963, to John Borovetz and Sylvia Blake in Independence, Kansas, where he was raised with his sister and five brothers. Alan enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football, and hunting. He graduated from Independence High School in 1981, where he excelled in basketball and football. Alan continued his football career while attending Independence Community College. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Alan married Sharon Borovetz on June 19, 1993, at First Christian Church in Independence. Together, Alan and Sharon shared three lovely children, Andrew, Logan, and Morgan. The family enjoyed pool days, playing yard games, and trips to Branson each summer. Alan was very proud of his children. He loved attending their sporting events and taught them hard work, life skills, sports lessons, and how to hunt. On Sundays, he could be found watching NASCAR, football, or golf with the kids. Alan instilled strength, independence, and courage in his children, values which they will carry with them. Alan was known for his reliability and strong work ethic, excelling in management throughout his career.
He began his career at ANR Freight in Cherryvale from 1985 to 1989. Alan then worked as a Transportation and Warehouse Manager at Coca-Cola from 1989 to 2009. He worked for the Kansas Food Bank from 2011 to 2015. Alan was employed as a Transportation Manager at RedGuard from 2015 until the time of his passing. Alan was an outdoorsman, taking a yearly pheasant hunting trip with his dad, brothers, Logan, and nephews in South Dakota. Alan, his dad, brothers, and kids enjoyed many golf outings and duck and dove hunting trips together.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, Tombstone movie quotes, and effortless ability to lighten the mood. Alan was known by many as the life of the party, for his love of KU sports, and his family-centered values. Alan and Sharon could be found most evenings relaxing by their pool with a glass of bourbon and a cigar, enjoying the backyard oasis they built together. Alan’s proudest accomplishments in life were his children and two grandchildren, Joshua and Adalyn.
Alan is remembered by his father, John; his wife, Sharon; his children, Andrew (Danielle) Payne, Logan (Nicole) Borovetz, and Morgan Borovetz; his grandchildren, Joshua Payne and Adalyn Borovetz; his brothers Greg (Roberta) Brightman, Bob (Emily) Borovetz, Curt (Jeanette) Borovetz, and Mike (Melissa) Borovetz; his sister Diane (Suzanne Thurman) Borovetz; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
