The Lord called Betty E. Godsey home to be with her husband Harvey who she missed very much on August 31, 2022. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 5, 2022 at The Church of the Brethern 920 W. Myrtle Street, Independence, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Kid Zone Daycare and may be left with the chapel.
Betty was born on February 4, 1927 to Julius and Nellie Newkirk in Independence, Kansas. She married Harvey C. Godsey Jr. on February 4, 1945 in Elk City, Kansas.
She is survived by her son, David Godsey and his wife Jeanne of Bixby, Oklahoma, and daughter,
Mary Jo Nay of Colorado Springs, Colorado, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and their offspring . She was preceded in death by her husband and her three brothers and their wives. She was the last of her generation.
Betty was a farmer’s wife until Harvey retired and the moved to Independence. She retired from Automotive Controls Corp in Independence. She also was a bookkeeper. She moved to Tulsa a couple of years after Harvey’s death in 2003.
She was active in the church almost her entire life, at The Church of the Brethren in Independence and later at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. She loved the Lord and studied His Word.
