BETTY McGEE NEAL

Betty Neal, age 92, passed away October 6, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Ok.
The daughter of Frank and Bertha Mitchell McGee, she was born June 8, 1925 in Liberty, Kansas. She was one of six children born of this union. Betty and her twin brother Bobby were the youngest of the children.
Graduating from Independence High School, Independence, Kansas in1944, it was soon after graduation that she met the love of her life, Claude Neal of Oklahoma City. They married on December 4, 1948 and made their home in Oklahoma City and celebrated 42 years together prior to Mr. Neal's death on August 12, 1990.
Betty worked for one year at Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas, before marrying and moving to Oklahoma City. There she worked for a short time at Robinson Steel Company and then she joined Dub Richardson Ford where she retired after 27 years, reaching the position of Executive Secretary to the President.
In the early years she enjoyed bowling and golf and participated regularly in organized leagues. More recently her loves were traveling and taking cruises with family and friends, bus trips to the Ozarks and casinos, card games with family, and "Girls Night Out" with girlfriends in Oklahoma City.
Betty loved to watch sports on TV and was a devoted fan of KU Basketball, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Neal, her parents, Frank McGee and Bertha Ray; her stepfather, William Ray; her sister, Bonnie Leatherman; 3 brothers, Francis (Bud) McGee, Joe McGee, and Bobby McGee.
She is survived by one sister, Doris Schwartz, Derby, Kansas. Nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who lovingly adopted her as their grandmother, and many close friends who loved her as family.
A funeral service has been scheduled for 1 pm, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home in Independence. Immediately following the funeral a Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held at the Independence Country Club in Independence.
Memorial contributions may be made to AWOL Animal Shelter in Independence and can be left with the funeral home.
