Beverly Gale Maxwell, 85 of Independence passed away at Parsons Presbyterian Manor on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at Webb and Rodrick Chapel on Thursday, August 12th at 2:00pm.
Mrs. Maxwell was born on July 14, 1936 in Sylvia, KS, the daughter of William Gale and Doris Ellen (Terrell) Hatfield.
She attended elementary schools in Goddard and Altamont, KS. She graduated from Labette County Community High School, Altamont, KS in 1954. She then attended the Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, graduating in 1957.
She married Douglas L. Maxwell on May 25, 1957 in Wichita, KS. He passed away on December 9, 2016.
Mrs. Maxwell was an office nurse for Dr. E.L. Robinson for more than 20 years. She retired in 1995 after working 12 years for Dr. Larry Atwood.
She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Gale and Doris Ellen Hatfield; husband Douglas Maxwell; son Steve Maxwell; grandson Ian William Maxwell Tuthill and sister Dolores Lowmaster.
Survivors include son Michael and wife Tina of Independence, KS. Daughter Beth and husband Wes of Arvada, CO. Five grandchildren: April Grunigren (Justin) of Tulsa, OK. Jennifer (Lane) Grimes of Grovetown, GA. Jessica and Julia Maxwell of Overland Park, KS. Evan Tuthill of Arvada, CO. Brother Terry (Linda) Hatfield of Independence, and five great grandchildren.
