Beverly Pittman

Beverly A. Pittman, 86, Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday January 8, 2016 at Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory the family will greet visitors from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the chapel. Private burial will take place in Mount hope Cemetery in Independence. Memorial Contributions in memory of Beverly may be made to A.W.O.L and may be left with the Chapel.
Beverly was born August 15, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas to Floyd V. and Thelma G. (Smith) Thompson. Beverly graduated from Independence, Kansas High School. She later married John C. Pittman on September 12, 1948. The couple made their home in rural Independence and operated a hog farm. Beverly and her husband John were very active in the community, Beverly is a 68 year member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, I.C.C. Booster's Club, Past President of the PTA, I.C.C Cheerleader Sponsor, and her and John managed the I.C.C. Concession Stand for many years. While serving her community Beverly was also employed by Southwestern Bell as a phone Operator, a Homemaker, Mother, Co Owner of Goodies Unlimited Catering Service and Chairwoman of the Local American Red Cross Chapter until her retirement.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, a daughter Deborah. Survivors include her daughter Patti Artherton and husband David, Independence, Kansas, one son John A. Pittman and wife Bobbie Pittman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and two grandson's Aaron W. Artherton and Fiancé Becky Bickford and Corey E. Artherton all of Independence, Kansas. And her beloved cat's Bubba, Boo Boo, Pricilla, and Momma Cat, Beverly was also blessed to have many friends, some of which have been her friends since the third grade.
