Danny P. Montoya

Danny P. Montoya, 63, Independence, Kansas formerly of Fredonia, Kansas. passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2023, at his home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday July 29th from 10am-12pm at The Old Iron Club in Fredonia, KS located at 10392 Jade Road. There will be a graveside immediately following for close friends and family.

Danny was born March 17, 1960, in San Francisco, California to Demetrio and Kathryn (Fleming) Montoya. The family moved to Fredonia, Kansas after Danny graduated from high school. Following Danny’s education, he was employed as a butcher at IGA for 25 years until it closed, then he retired and moved to Independence, Kansas.

Danny married Jill Reed and the couple later divorced. He then married Diana Ward on February 27, 1999. She preceded him in death. Danny was an avid 49ers fan and sports fanatic, he also enjoyed playing the harmonica, watching WWE Wrestling, singing Motown songs, and taking walks.

Danny will be remembered as a gentle giant. He was preceded in death by his mother, his wife Diana Ward, and his grandmother Lucille Fleming. Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Kayli and spouse Julie Montoya-Huston, step children Heather Reed and Nathan Young, and many friends.
