Donald Ray Patchett

Donald Ray Patchett, 74, of Independence, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life service will be held.

Donald was born on August 22, 1951, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Virgil and Barbara (Goode) Patchett. He attended Coffeyville schools. Following his education, he worked on the family farm and was later employed by Rocking Chair in Coffeyville, Kansas, and Emerson Electric until his retirement.

Donald married Tammy Austin in 1979; she preceded him in death. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Donald enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tammy; two brothers, Virgil Patchett and Lawrence Patchett; and one sister, Kathleen Patchett-Mathis.

Those left to cherish his memory include three sons: Luke (Lisa) Patchett of Jefferson City, Missouri; Adam (Veronica) Patchett of Oregon; and James Patchett of Independence, Kansas; one daughter, Crystal (Christopher) Ellis of Independence, Kansas; twelve grandchildren: Amanda and husband Austin, Jarek, Abrianna, Bryson, Jasmin, Mattielee, Kylee, Christopher, Hannah, Ashley, William, and Alexander; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Artemis.
