Doris Schaid

Independence, Kansas

Doris Schaid went to the Lord on Thursday October 17th, 2019 after a long illness. She was born February 8th, 1929 in Independence, Kansas which was her home all of her life. She attended Independence schools graduating from Independence High School.

She was married to Wilbur Schaid for 47 years raising four children Bill, Tim, Joe and LeaAnn. She loved art and enjoyed painting and ceramics. Her loving, helping character expressed itself as she taught 3rd Grade Sunday School for 18 years. Volunteered as a young woman with the Red Cross for many years and again later in life. She was a Den mother and Girl Scout leader for 20 years as well as serving as an active member of the PTA as her children grew up.

She was co-owner of Goodies Unlimited catering company enriching the events of the community with great food for about 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her brothers John Edwin and Kenneth Clemmer, her mother and father Gladys and Jesse Earl Clemmer and husband Wilbur in 1994.

She is survived by her children, Bill Schaid, Tim Schaid, Joe Schaid and LeaAnn Armstrong. Grand children Toby Schaid-Hefley, Bryan Schaid, Blake Schaid, Kenneth Schaid, Phillip Schaid, Kimberly Schaid, Laura Schaid, Abram Harpel, Sharona Bloom, Robyn Armstrong. She was so proud of her 14 great grandchildren.

The family is planning a graveside service and celebration of Life for the spring.
