Earl Mills

Earl Wayne Mills, 86, passed away at Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas on Monday, August 27, 2018.
Earl Wayne Mills was born on May 9, 1932 to Carl and Piccola (Robinson) Mills in Sedan, Kansas. Earl attended the Sycamore school until 8th grade then attended and graduated from Independence High School in 1951. In 1952 Earl entered the United States Navy. Earl proudly served his country until being honorably discharged in 1956. Earl then attended Pittsburg State University earning his degree in automotive mechanics. Earl was united in marriage to Dolores Kerner in Neodesha, Kansas in 1956. Earl retired from the cement plant in 1994 after 21 years on employment. Earl was a lifetime member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church, he loved woodworking, camping, and fishing, but most of all he loved the time he spent with his granddaughters, either at school functions, activities, or family gatherings. Earl will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Earl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolores, parents, Carl and Piccola Mills, brothers, Jim Mills, John Mills, sisters, Mabel Powell, and Nadine Sewell.
Those left to cherish Earl's memory, daughter, Dana and husband Shawn Mundy of Independence, KS, brother, Beryl Mills of Independence, KS, sister, Judith Vincent of Murray, UT, granddaughters, Chelsea and husband Kale Cunningham of Webb City MO, and Brooke Mundy of Joplin MO.
Friends are encouraged to signed the book at Webb and Rodrick Chapel on Wednesday, August 29th from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the family will be greeting friends and family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be held on Thursday, August 30th at 1:00 PM at Webb and Rodrick Chapel, interment will immediately follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Memorials may be left in Earl's name to the Sycamore United Methodist Church and can be left at the chapel.
