Edna Mills

Edna "Jo" Ione Mills, 87, Sycamore, Kansas passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at home. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. The family will greet visitors from 2:00-4:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Sycamore United Methodist Church Ladies Aide and may be left with the chapel.
Edna was born in Greenway, South Dakota to Henry and Bertha ( Dedie) Schmitt. Edna attended and graduated from Greenway, South Dakota Schools. Edna met James Mills in Greenway and the couple married on February 7, 1952 in Miami, Oklahoma the couple made their home in Sycamore, Kansas and Edna was employed as a lunch lady for the Sycamore School until she become employed by The United States Postal Service as the postmistress for the Sycamore, Kansas Post Office for 35 years.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and her husband James Mills. Those left to cherish her memory include two children Donald Mills, Independence, Kansas; Janice (Anthony) Vail. Independence, Kansas; two brothers, Melvin ( Jessie) Schmitt, Ellensburg, Washington; Donnie Schmitt, Snohomish, Washington; one sister, Betty Bolien, Cedar Lake, Indiana; five grandchildren, Chet Mills, Independence, Kansas; Dustin Mills, Independence, Kansas; Ashley Drake, Independence, Kansas; Angeline (Ben) Reese, Pensacola, Florida; Anthony Vail, Independence, Kansas; six great grandchildren, Cloe Mills, Dayton Drake, Paris Drake, Logan Vail, Madeline Vail, and Andrianna Reese.
