Edward Leon Oyler, 79, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The family will visit guests on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 5:00 –7:00 p.m. at Webb & Roderick Chapel and Crematory in Independence, Ks. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, at the chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the The Journey Home, (Hospice Home) located at 900 Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, Ok., 74006 and may be left with the chapel.
Ed was born October 17, 1943, to George Lewis Oyler and Cleo Pauline (Growing) Oyler. In Holly Colorado. Ed attended Cherryvale, Kansas schools before moving to Independence, Kansas where he made his home. Ed was employed as a truck driver most of his career. After retiring from truck driving Ed was always looking for a deal or making trades. Ed was a real lifelong cowboy traveling the rodeo circuit and helping new cowboy’s train for the rodeo. He was also very passionate about training horses.
Ed was a Christian and a member of Light House Baptist Church. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia one daughter, Michelle Holler, Justin Dean Wallace grandson and three brothers, George Lewis Oyler Jr., John Oyler, and Paul Oyler. Nine sisters, Violet Oyler, Agnes Ward, Naomi Rice, Geneva Stuart, Shirley Holeman, Lora Butler, Esther Meadows, Grace Crites, and Viola Slinkard. Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Phillip Oyler, four daughters, Kristina Snider, Carla Jo Wooten, Sheri Wallace and Billie Jo Fosnight and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
