Elizabeth Dancer

October 1, 1931 — April 12, 2016

Elizabeth "Betty" Forline Dancer, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Kingston Residence in Hickory, NC, after a brief illness. Born October 1, 1931 in Oklahoma City, OK, she was the daughter of the late Harry Wallace Forline and Ethlyn Mancine Forline. She had moved to Hickory, NC to be closer to her son Craig, Linda and Chad Dancer.

Betty graduated from Independence High School with the Class of 1949 and was united in marriage with Don Dancer on August 27, 1950. She retired from KGE in 1995. Betty was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, KS, where she served as an Elder and on various committees. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Contemporary Club, a member of the EF Chapter of PEO where she was a past president and Golden Girl.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Don Dancer; son, Jeffrey Dancer and step-mother, Maxine Lawrence Wiggins

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Craig Dancer and wife, Linda of Hickory; grandchildren, Bill Dancer and his wife Jennifer of Dallas, TX, Frank Dancer and his wife Juliana of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David Dancer and his wife Brittany of Dallas, TX, Chad Dancer and his wife Meghan currently serving at Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, LA; Betty also has five great-grandchildren; step-sister, Joan Goodknight of Independence, KS; step-brother, Larry Wiggins of Wichita, KS; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Dancer.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Book of Remembrance, First Presbyterian Church, 201 South 5th Street, Independence, KS 67301,
AWOL (Animals With Our Love) Humane Society, 116 South 23rd Street, Independence, KS 67301, and friends in Hickory to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
