Gary Keith Bridwell, born September 12, 1948, passed away in his home on January 22nd, 2026, with his wife by his side after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Friends may sign the register on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the chapel from 5-7:00 p.m., The family will greet visitors at the family home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Monday, January 26, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Grant County Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial may be made to the Freeman Oncology in Pittsburg, Kansas and may be left with the chapel.
Gary was born in Scott City Kansas to Liston and Harriet Bridwell.
His is survived by his wife Kayla Bridwell of 36 years, his Son Brian of Wichita Kansas, His Daughter Brandy and Son in Law James Packard of Overland Park Ks, and Son Shaun and Daughter in Law Amanda Hampton of Webb City Missouri. Sister Sherry Harris and her husband Steve of Elizabethtown Tennessee and Sister Darlene Blake of Great Bend Kansas.
Grandchildren Jacob and his wife Becca Packard, Jordyn Packard and Jaidyn Packard, and Amiah Hampton, Lincoln Hampton and Urijah Hampton.
He was Proceeded in Death by His Parents, his Brothers Bob and Carl Bridwell and his Sisters Dorothy Anderson, Kathy Peirce, Patty Jacobs, Joan Hinkle and Emily Walsh.
Gary Served his country in the Vietnam war and was awarded the national Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device; Army Commendation Medal; and a Purple Heart
After his Service he worked for Natural Gas Company and Oil field companies and his own Oil Field company Black Rain Energies in 1990.until his time of passing.
Gary was a hardworking, loving man and a loving husband who was my best friend. He was the best Dad and Papa who loved all of his kids, his Grandkids and his family. He was a man who would help anyone at anytime with anything.
