Gertrude Donnelly Boulanger, 87, formerly of Independence, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory, with burial to follow in Havana Cemetery, Havana, Kansas. Memorials may be made to FORPAZ and may be left at the chapel.
Gertrude was born on December 11, 1937, in Havana, Kansas, to Furman and Stella (Bell) Wennihan. She attended and graduated from Havana High School in 1955. Following her education, she attended business school. Gertrude married Larry Dean Donnelly in 1957; he preceded her in death. She later married Wayne Boulanger, who also preceded her in death.
Gertrude worked as a bookkeeper for Orville W. Carter Inc. and several schools before serving as Postmaster in both Independence and Caney, Kansas, until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and was very involved in her church, singing in choir at the Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husbands, Larry Donnelly, and Wayne Boulanger, and three sisters: Mary Louise Carter, Nellie Belle Wiley, and Viola Mae Wheatley.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Douglas (Tina) Donnelly of Dearing, Kansas; two daughters, Deborah (Tom) Kelly of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Pamela (Randy) Henton of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one stepson, Mike (Karen) Boulanger of Erie, Kansas; and one stepdaughter, Sally Boulanger of Independence, Kansas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
