James Bryant

July 6, 1942 — June 26, 2016

James "Jim" Cullen Bryant age 73 of Copan, formerly of Elk City passed away on June 26, 2016 at Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Jim was born in Independence on July 6, 1942 to Basil and Stella (Volz) Bryant. He was raised in Elk City on the banks of the river. When he wasn't fishing he attended and graduated from Elk City High School. After high school he started his own business as a floor covering installer. He continued work in this field for well over 50 years. In 1982 he married Martha Jordan in Miami, Oklahoma; Jim was blessed with a son and daughter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence, Jim loved everything outdoors, fishing, gardening, landscaping, and dune-buggying. Jim was a great friend to everyone, he always was there to lend a hand. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed every day of his life. Jim was an honest man that loved his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Martha of the home, son Randy Bryant his wife Laurie, daughter Lisa Mills her husband Robert, brother Basil Eugene Bryant, sisters Karen Osburn her husband Philip, Diana Bryant her husband Fred, sister-in-laws, Georgia Bryant and Marie Bryant, sister and brother in law James and Junie Boiles, grandchildren Adam Bryant, Allison Bryant, Traci Lumm her husband Zakk, Emily Mills, and Hannah Friesen her husband Dalton, and great-grandchild Abigail Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Max and William Bryant.
Funeral Services honoring his life will be held on Thursday June 30, 2016 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel & Crematory at 10:00 am with Pastor David Henneke of First Baptist Church of Independence officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, KS. Friends are invited to sign the register and share memories with the family on Wednesday June 29, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association in Honor of Jim.
