Karl Lang, 65, of Independence, KS passed in peace at home with his loved ones by his side on Thursday, September 16, 2021 after battling cancer. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at 10:00am at Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Karl was born May 15, 1956 in Fort Scott, KS to James and Theresa Lang. He married his lovely bride in North Dakota at a young age. They were married for 46 years and had three children.
He loved to be behind the scenes taking pictures of his family and projects he was working on. His family was most important to him. As grandchildren came along, he shared in the joy of helping with them and spoiling them. He took delight in making things in the shop and his yard with his children and grandchildren.
Karl worked construction most his life. He worked with multiple companies traveling and building many projects. He went on to open his own construction company, Lang Construction, in 1995. He enjoyed working for himself with his wife by his side for over 30 years. Later, he worked in management for other construction companies on many large projects; the most recent project being the renovation of Washington School, Independence, KS. As things slowed down, Karl did some locksmith work and made keys for many who misplaced them or got locked out.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife, Janet, of the home, his children Dale Lang, Nicole (Sheo) Villasmil, Michelle Wilson, KS, and Greg (Rachel) Lang, CA, his sister Kathy (Bob) Kromarek, his grandchildren Brandan Lang, Maizey Williams, Damien Lang, Josiah Villasmil, Atticus Wilson, Noah Lang, and Malachi Villasmil.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, and son-in-law, James Wilson.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Oreck and Dr. Hogsett with Labette Health and Harry Hines Hospice for helping them through his difficult time.
Karl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
