Larry Leon Augustine, 75, Independence, Kansas passed away at home on Monday, June 27, 2016. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Harrisonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Independence Historical Museum and Arts Center or Home Town Health Care and may be left with the Chapel.
Larry was born March 19, 1941 in Neodesha, Kansas to Glen Raymond and Lillian Charolette (Stanley) Augustine. Larry attended and graduated from Independence High School. Larry was employed by the City of Independence, Kansas for 25 years as a Water Plant Operator. Larry married Lavonda Emert on October 13, 1960 to this union three children were born; the couple later divorced. Larry married Sylvia Louise Matthews on August 15, 1980 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Larry is a member of the Independence Historical Museum and Arts Center. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, K. U. Basketball, and K-State Football. Larry and Sylvia enjoyed following the late model Stock Car Circuit and traveling in their R.V. and visited 38 states.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Christy Eugene Hawn, a niece Debra Diane Marceleno and his beloved dog Sara. Survivors include his wife of 35 years Sylvia of the home, one son Larry Kent (Tiffany Michaell)) Augustine, Independence, KS; two daughters, Robin Elizabeth (Craig Charles) Fankhauser, Webb City, MO; Rhonda Kay (Christopher Lee) Bromley, Olathe, KS; one brother Stanley Raymond (Linda Lee) Augustine, Independence, KS; one sister, Lillian Elizabeth (Benjamin Victor) Bellmore, Cherryvale, KS; three grandsons, Bryson Lee and Brayden Christopher Bromley, Olathe, KS; and Chet Leon Augustine, Independence, KS; and one granddaughter, Gaberiell Michaell Augustine, Independence, KS; and his beloved dog Squirt.
