Larry was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, in 1944, the son of George and Edna Green. He graduated from Martins Ferry High school in 1962, with huge help from his mentor the late “Bud" Kaiser who taught him drafting and inspired Larry to excel in that field. After high school he moved to California with his brother, Jack Green, and won a position with the Cosmodyne Corporation. In 1964 Larry married Judy Baillie. They were married for 15 years and had two children: Kimberly Diane Green and Jeffrey Allen Green. Larry left California to take a position at the booming Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, in the 1960s. Larry was promoted to lead estimator under the leadership of Hugh Kilgo who became a huge influence on Larry’s life. In the early 1970s Larry was offered a job by David M. Parker, former CEO of M-E-C company in Neodesha, Kansas, where he served as construction manager. Imbued with an entrepreneurial spirit, Larry left M-E-C and formed Evergreen Builders, Inc. in Independence, KS, in the 1980s. Applying the knowledge he gained from his previous positions, along with hard work and dedication, Larry grew Evergreen to become the nation‘s premier specialty contractor in the flour and feed mill industry. Evergreen Builders, Inc. dissolved in the early 1990s to become SCA Construction, Inc., and expanded its flour and feed mill construction expertise into other industries like brick, food, grain, plastic. Through the years Larry’s companies employed hundreds of skilled tradesmen, many staying with the company for decades. Larry was a leader, father, grandfather and great friend who would literally “give the shirt off of his back” to anyone if they needed something day or night. He loved playing golf, hunting and fishing and was a sports aficionado. His favorite teams were the University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball and St. Louis Cardinals. Larry loved animals and his home always found room for another dog. He enjoyed life every day immensely. His philosophy was always "while I’m here on earth I was blessed by God and my blessings should go forward to others in life." He was known as the “Genius of generosity” for the many people and organizations he helped annually. In the late 1990s he donated to the construction of the field house at his high school in Martins Ferry, Ohio, that was named the George and Edna Green Purple Rider Fieldhouse after his late parents. Larry was preceded in death by his grandson Mason Jeffrey Robert Green and granddaughter Nicole Dianne Joliquer. Larry is survived by his wife Connie Green and her daughters Jeanie (Steve) Zemaitis and Christina Howard, and grandson Ezra. He is also survived by his daughter Kimberly Diane Pendleton (Kurt) and son Jeff (Monica) and four grandchildren: Kayla Sheets, Marissa Villalobos, and Spencer and Olivia Green.
