Larry Eugene Rodrick, age 87, peacefully passed away on June 8th, 2023 at Asbury Village in Coffeyville, KS. Arrangements to be provided by Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring Larry’s life will be held at the First Christian Church on Monday, June 19th at 11:00 AM, with family greeting friends starting at 10:00 AM. A private burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas following the service.

Larry was born on January 20th, 1936 in Ellsworth, KS to Orlie and Bernice (Bland) Rodrick. He attended and graduated from the Independence school system. After high school he continued his education at Independence Community College and then Washburn University. After graduation from college, Larry joined the US Army Reserves and then later attended and graduated from the Dallas Mortuary Science College in 1960. Larry and Margie Lou (Tetrick) were united in marriage on August 31, 1958. The couple was blessed with two daughters and a son.

Larry was a very prominent member of the Independence community and was very active in numerous clubs. Larry was a co-owner of Rodrick Funeral home with his father, Orlie and later merged with Gerald and Clarence Webb and was a co-owner of Webb and Rodrick Funeral Home. He was a member of the Independence Country Club, a charter member of the Independence Optimist Club, Elder and former Chairman of the Board of the First Christian Church, Former City Cancer Chairman and City Heart Chairman for Mercy Hospital. Larry was a Junior College State Champion in the low hurdles in 1956 and later received a full athletic scholarship to Washburn University in football and track. Larry’s proudest achievements were being a loving husband, and wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Larry leaves behind to honor his memory: His daughters Lynn (Michael) Cordray of Coffeyville, KS, and Joni (Steven) Pratt of Independence, KS; son Steven (Heidi) Rodrick of the Woodlands, TX; sister Kay Rodrick of Sun City, AZ; six grandchildren: Tyler (Kayla) Bryant, Wade (Mindy) Bryant, Ethan (Sydney) Cordray, Lindsay (Cam Fisher, fiancé) Pratt, Mac Rodrick, Clara Rodrick; and five great-grandchildren: Bentley Bryant, Harper Bryant, Cannon Bryant, Landon Bryant and Lane Bryant. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Margie Lou. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff of Asbury Village Assisted Living and Harry Hynes Hospice who provided such kind support and care for Larry for two years.
