LaVonne Marie Williams, 97 of Independence, Kansas passed away at Eagle Estates in Independence on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

LaVonne was welcomed into this world on June 1, 1925 in Denver, Colorado, to parents, Hillis Earl and Sylvia Louise (Eaton) Tyler. LaVonne graduated from Alton High School in Alton, Kansas. She then married Clifford Dale Williams in Downs, Kansas on September 13, 1942. After a few years in western Kansas, the two moved their family to Independence. Clifford went to work at the cement plant and LaVonne stayed home to care for the children and house. Through the years, LaVonne loved to work on embroidery, tend to her garden, spending countless hours canning her home-grown vegetables. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Williams, son, Bruce Williams, parents, Hillis and Sylvia Tyler, and sister, Patty Dee Heggendorn.

Her memory will carry on with her sons, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Williams of Wichita, Paul (Leslie) Williams of Wichita, daughters, Rose Marie Mintz of Derby, Sherrie Lewis of Independence, and Lynn Fetters of Newton, brother, Bob Tyler of Russell, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Webb and Rodrick Chapel. A private family Celebration of LaVonne’s life will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Memorial contributions can be made in LaVonne’s name to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or First Southern Baptist Youth Group in Independence.
