INDEPENDENCE

Lynita Lynn Wright, 88, of Independence, Kansas, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Coffeyville, Kansas.

She was born on July 10, 1937, to Andrew Olds Ladd and Anna Elda (Tanquary) Ladd.

Lynita, known to many as “Lynn,” lived a full and vibrant life centered around family, friendship, and community. A true social butterfly, she found joy in a wide range of activities, including bowling, softball, golf, Bunko, card games, and dancing. She especially treasured time spent at family gatherings. Lynn was also a lifetime member of the Women’s Auxiliary VFW Post 1186 in Independence, Kansas. Her warmth, energy, and genuine love for others brought joy to everyone she met, and she will be fondly remembered for the many meaningful connections she built throughout her life.

On October 23, 1955, she married Benny Wright. Together, they spent 70 years building a loving family and sharing life’s many adventures.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna Ladd; her husband, Benny Wright; and her brother, Eldon Ladd.

She is survived by her children, Kirk (Debbie) Wright, Kyle (Kim) Wright, and Karla Boyle; six grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley) Wright, Jaymee (Mike) Lavieri, Logan Wright, Madison Wright, Ashley (Kelly) Hewitt, and Austin (Jessica) Leake; and five great-grandchildren, Clark Hewitt, Julie Hewitt, Bennett Lavieri, Max Wright and Genevieve Leake all of whom will cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Independence, Kansas. A graveside service will follow at approximately 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church in Independence, Kansas, or to VFW Post 1186 in Independence, Kansas.
