Marilyn Jones

Marilyn Ann Jones, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away February 3, 2018. Marilyn was born on December 4, 1930 in Yates Center, KS to Harry and Maxine (Landis) Merrill. Marilyn became a Registered Nurse in 1953 and worked as a nurse for 28 years at a local doctor's office. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Jeffrey Earl Jones, and daughter-in-law, Gayla Jones. Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 64 years, Richard E. Jones, son Tom Jones of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, daughter Jane (Tim) Gaskell of Westby, Wisconsin, son Jon Jones of Pittsburg, Kansas, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and other special family and friends. She loved to read, play bridge and cook wonderful meals for her family. She was known to her grandchildren as Meemaw. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, KS or Harry Hines Hospice Center of Coffeyville, KS. Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
