Marlene Corn

June 30, 1934 — November 9, 2018

Marlene Faye Corn, 84, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at home with family by her side. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Gault Hall of The First United Methodist Church.

Marlene was born at home June 30, 1934 in Independence, Kansas to Charles and Lula (Bennett) Guyer. Marlene graduated from Independence High School and Independence Community College where she received her Associates Degree. Marlene married Charles Knapp in 1957 at Independence, Kansas and he proceeded her in death. She then later married Roy Corn Jr. in 1981 at Independence, Kansas and he proceeded her in death. Marlene was employed in banking for over 37 years at Citizen's National Bank.
Marlene is a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. A member of the Business and Professional Women, the PBX Club member and was on the IHS Alumni Reunion Committee.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Charles Knapp and Roy Corn Jr.; and a step-daughter Judy Peterson. Survivors include son, Rick (Lynn) Knapp of Independence, KS; step-daughter, Shirley Hatten of Cherryvale, KS; step-son, Steve (Paula) Corn of Independence, KS; sister, Phyllis Amick of Independence, KS; two grandsons; Samuel and Jacob Knapp of Independence, KS; 9 grandchildren; Patty (Jack) Caldwell, Jim(Amy)Hatten, Jeff (Jennifer) Hatten, David(LeAnn) Peterson, Michelle(Dwight)Ellison, Matt(Amanda)Corn, Shelby Corn, Shannon Burns, Courtney(Jeff) Jabben and 14 Great Grandchildren. Nephews; Neil and Stan Amick; great nephews; Walter and Winston Amick and many other family and friends. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Independence.
