Marvin Whistler

February 13, 1925 — April 27, 2019

Surrounded by family in his living room, Marvin Thomas "Pete" Whistler, 94, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, left this earth for his heavenly home at 7:35 p.m. on April 27, 2019. He was born on February 13, 1925 in Elk City, KS to Thomas Seth and Zoa Alice (Weaver) Whistler. He attended Elk City Schools, graduated in 1942 and was the last remaining survivor of his class. A World War II Veteran, he served in the United States Army from 1944-1946, receiving an honorable discharge.
He returned to Elk City, resumed farming and carpentry work and in August 1950 met the love of his life, Erma Jean Glass. After some smooth talking, they married February 8, 1951. Besides his love for farming, he enjoyed fishing, playing checkers, dominoes, cards and shooting pool with his family and friends. In the later years of his life, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He often told us to "put Jesus first". He is survived by his wife Jean of the home, two sons Ron (Sandy) Whistler and Don Whistler and a daughter Gail (Robert) Keller. Grandchildren Julie Whistler (Kevin) Osburn, Aaron (Holly) Whistler, Lori (Kaleo) Hanamaikai, Joe (Levana) Whistler, Dawna Lee, Kasey (Josh) Alloway, Adam (Carrie) Keller, Jason (BJ) Whistler, Darla Whistler (Scott) Tummond, Rachel (John) Stuckey, 21 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
