Nora Mae Casey Mangus, 86, Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas. Friends may register on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Webb Rodrick Chapel from 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. at the chapel. Graveside Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas with Pastor Francis Aeschliman and Rabbi Yehoshua Othniel officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross and may be left with the Chapel. Casey was born March 5, 1928 at Centerville, Kansas to Walter Earl and Sara Ellen Berry Simpson. Casey attended Iola, Kansas Schools and Iola Community College. Casey Married Arthur Dean Mangus on January 8, 1977 he preceded her in death on February 28, 1983. Casey worked in Law Enforcement for 26 years the last place was for Independence, Kansas Police Department for 18 years, she earned several certificates of achievement from different law enforcement classes over the years, including NCIC Certified and was a member of the Kansas Police Officers Association. Casey retired in 1999 from the Independence, Kansas Police Department. Casey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Harold Dean Mangus, a daughter, Helen L. Burton, three grandsons, David Crozzer, Tom Crozzer, and Steve Mangus, two sisters, Ruth Ethel Callahan and Clara Hoeloman. Casey is survived by two children, Arthur Lee Mangus, Bay Town, Texas, Delores F. Wilson, Independence, Kansas, one sister, Esther Eicre, Johnston, Ohio one brother, Rufus Simpson, Titusville, Florida, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 36 greatgreat grandchildren. Arrangements by Webb Rodrick Chapel and Crematory.
