Norman R. Williams Sr. 63, Independence, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.,  Friday, April 14, 2023, at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. The family will greet visitors from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Chapel.

Norman R.Williams Sr. was born September 10, 1959 to Kye and Rachael Joanna (Carmichael) Williams in Coffeyville, Kansas. Norman attended Coffeyville Kansas schools and he graduated from Independence Sr. High School in 1977. Following his education, Norman was employed as a laborer for a Construction Company, G&W foods, and as a Security Officer. He was employed with the City of Independence, Kansas at the time of his death. Norman was always full of energy, and he loved and enjoyed being around all of his family and close friends. He brought jokes and laughter. Talent and style. He was respectively a spectator of those around him. After you met him, he’s someone that you cannot unmeet. He was always a helper if you needed him. He enjoyed his movies and T.V. shows; those included were Wrestling, Westerns, and the Syfy channel. He was very efficient with technology, and working on cars and computers. He loved listening to all different kinds of music and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. He played the guitar and also wrote a couple of his own songs. He also enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys!

Norman married Sandra Ellison in 1983; the couple later divorced.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Kye and Rachael Joanna Williams.

Those left to cherish his memory include: Two son’s; Norman R. Williams Jr. Tulsa, Oklahoma; Darrius Scott, Coffeyville, Kansas; Two daughters; Heather Murphy, Independence, Kansas; Crystal Pruden, Independence, Kansas; Five brothers; Karl (Evonne)Williams, Memphis, Tennessee; Michael(Connie) Williams, Independence, Kansas; Danny(Anita) Williams, Independence, Kansas; Kenneth (Ebony) Williams, Kansas City, Mo; Kye Williams, Independence, Kansas; Three sisters; Kathleen (Kenneth) Birch, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Carolyn Hutchinson, Independence, Kansas; Mary Williams, Fort Scott, Kansas. Two grandson’s; Norman Williams III; and Zion Brown. And he had many nieces and nephews that loved and cherished him.
