Opal Dorn

Opal M. Van Dorn (Stephenson), G-MA, of Sherman, Texas, formerly of Independence, Kansas, passed away November 11, 2016 at home with family by her side. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. A 1:30 p.m. graveside service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
Opal was born June 12, 1940 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. On October 3, 1957 she married Billy E. Van Dorn who preceded her in death, along with a son William Van Dorn. Survivors include sisters, Joyce Decker, and Jeannie Stephenson of Stillwater, Oklahoma; son Phillip Van Dorn and wife, Andrea, along with grandsons, Scott, Andrew, Houston, and Josh of Sherman, Texas; JW and wife, Lindsay, and three great grandchildren of Killeen, Texas; grandchildren David and Amie Van Dorn of Oklahoma; daughter, Carla Van Dorn and grandchildren Jeffrey and Kerry of Oklahoma; special friends in Independence, Kansas and many other friends and relatives across the country. As a nurse for 35 years she was able to touch so many people's lives and continued to do so after her retirement.
