Rachel Janicke

Rachel Janicke, 38, passed away unexpectedly, in her sleep, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Independence, Kansas. Rachel was a 2005 graduate of Cromwell High School and lived in the Middletown CT area, prior to living in Colorado and Kansas.

Rachel is survived by her 3 children, Ava, Amelia and Clover; her mother, Eileen (Smithwick) Janicke, her father, Kevin Janicke and his wife, Rosemary Malatesta; of Cromwell CT, her sister, Melanie Lane, her husband, Joseph and their two sons, Andrew and Josh of Tomball, Texas; two aunts, Jeannine (Janicke) Sweet of Mystic CT and Patricia (Smithwick) Hill of East Hampton,CT; and several cousins. Besides her grandparents Rachel was predeceased by her beloved older brother, Brian Janicke, with whom she shared a home, along with their mother, in 2014.
