Richard Jones

Richard Eugene Jones, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away December 31, 2018. Richard was born April 4, 1930 in Hamilton, Kansas to Earl and Jessie (Moreland) Jones.
Richard was in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1953. He worked for Southwestern Bell for over 42 years and enjoyed his retirement on the farm with his wife, horses, and cattle.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn, an infant son, Jeffery Earl Jones, daughter-in-law, Gayla Jones, his parents and brother, Waine Jones.
Those left to honor his memory include son Tom Jones of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, daughter Jane (Tim) Gaskell of Westby, Wisconsin, son Jon Jones of Pittsburg, Kansas, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, the R. W. Jones Family of Oklahoma, and other special family and friends. Richard loved music, horses, hard work and family. He was known to his grandchildren as Poppop.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 4th at 10:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Independence or the VFW. Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
