Robert N. Demgar, age 81, of Caney, KS passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Caney Nursing Center in Caney. Cremation has taken place graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Mount Hope Cemetery with Pastor Gaiton Gilger, of Amazing Grace Community Church officiating. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be sent to Webb Rodrick Chapel Crematory.

Robert was born February 21, 1933 in New Brunswick, NJ, the son of Peter Allen and Mae Hartman Demgar. He was raised by his grandparents and considered his uncles, Harold, Jack, Edward, and Ted more as siblings. He was raised on Rutgers College grounds as his grandfather was the groundskeeper. He joined the Air Force during the Korean War, while at Offutt Air Force Base he met and fell in love with Verna Louise Marsh who was also serving in the Air Force. The couple married on July 17, 1954 on the base. To this union the couple was blessed with a daughter and 2 sons. After he was honorably discharged from the service he returned to New Jersey and worked various manufacturing jobs and also volunteered as an active member of the Milltown Fire Department for many years. He later became a truck driver and then a driver for Continental Trailways Bus Lines moving numerous places with his bus route until having an accident that forced him to retire. He had been a member of the American Legion. Robert also volunteered his time at the VA hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Robert moved to Kansas in 2012 after the loss of his wife to be closer to his daughter.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Verna, son Roger, half brothers Larry Pergola, Edward Pergola, and his 4 uncles. He is survived by his daughter Ginny Daniel ChristieHudson, son Ron Debbie Demgar, former soninlaw Terry Christie, 8 grandchildren, Norman Christie, Seth Christie, Matthew Christie, Adam Demgar, Daniel Demgar, Rebekah Alvarado, Micah Cayen, Rachel Mnuniz, and 16 greatgrandchildren, Nickolas, Marc, Nydia, Sarina, Abigail, Lillian, Carlos, Mackenzie, and Seth Christie II, Benjamin, Hannah, Zachariah, and Dylan Cayen, Gabriel Alvarado, Ariel Favela, and Maranda Arguello. Webb Rodrick Chapel Crematory have been entrusted with the arrangements.
