Rose Eytcheson

Rose Ellen Eytcheson, 97, Independendence, Kansas passed away at home on Friday, March 17, 2017. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Church of the Epiphany,Episcopal, Independence, Kansas. Friends may register from 9:00 , a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Church of the Epiphany,Episcopal, and may be left with the chapel.
Rose was born January 14, 1920 in Jay County, Indiana she attended school in Indiana, Oklahoma, and Independence, Kansas. Rose married Benjamin Leonard Eytcheson on June 1, 1935 in Miami, Oklahoma. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before Leonard's death in 2001. The couple made their home in Independence, Kansas later farming in the Elk City area. Following the sale of their farming operation, they owned and operated a ditching business in Independence. Besides being a homemaker, Rose was also the administrative assistant for the ditching business. Rose was a 15 year member of Church of the Epiphany, Episcopal, and a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. Rose enjoyed jig saw puzzles, word searches, reading and her daily devotions.Rose also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Earnest Moore, Wilburn Moore, O.C. Moore, Roland Browning JR, Frank Browning; four sisters, Mary Louise Arnold, Ramanda Love, Ardis Harshman, and Zola Harshman. Survivors include one son, Gerald Eytcheson, Afton, Oklahoma; three daughters, Patsy Taylor, Havana, Kansas, Jaqulyn ( Wayne) Chism, Bernice, Oklahoma, Karen Cook, Independence, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 78 great-greatgrandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandson.
