INDEPENDENCE

Sharlene Sue Clark, fondly known as Suzie, 86, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2026.

Suzie was born on April 23rd, 1939, in Iola, Kansas, to Charles Dewey and Suzan Rebecca (Page) Steward. She was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Iola High School in 1957.

She was a resident of Independence, Kansas, since 1977, where she met the love of her life, Dr Porter Clark, where they were later married on April 4th, 1989. Dr Clark practiced dentistry in Independence for 47 years with Suzie as his office manager for 35 years of that successful practice. Suzie left an impact on every patient that walked through those doors with her caring and compassionate way. To know Suzie was to love her. After retirement, they both enjoyed running into their patients and reminiscing. She truly missed seeing them on a routine basis.

Suzie grew up in a very loving home and her greatest joy in life was her family. Family holidays and traditions brought much joy to Suzie and the bigger the celebration the better and her homemade pies and cookies were the highlights of those wonderful occasions.

Even when Suzie’s health declined, her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren. They always lifted her spirits and made her smile. Her loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her.

Suzie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Larry, Don, Wendell, and Jack and her sisters, Daramis, and Leah.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sabrina (Gary) Overfield, and Charles “C.D.” (Robin) Siliceo; her grandsons, Tyler (April) Bridwell, and Jesse (Caylin) Overfield; great grandchildren, Brynlee, Bennett, Adilyn, Paxton, and Briar, and several nieces and nephews.

To honor her memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on April 14th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Booth Hotel in Independence, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Kansas City, Missouri, 1120 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri, 64105 American Cancer Society/support-programs or FORPAZ, Friends of Riverside Park and Zoo, Independence, Kansas, https://www.independenceks.gov/286/FORPAZ
