Viola Shobe

February 20, 1939 — January 31, 2017

Viola Ileen Ramsey Shobe, 77, Independence, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. The family will greet guest from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at The First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church or Forpaz and may be left with the chapel.
Viola was born February 20, 1939 in Parsons, Kansas to Charles and Viola (Brown) Ramsey. Viola attended and graduated from Parsons High School in 1958 she then attended Independence Community College where she graduated with a Degree in Mathematics. Viola married Alan R. Shobe on June 21, 1959 in Parsons, Kansas the couple then moved to Independence, Kansas and later Chanute, Kansas and then back to Independence, Kansas in 1972. Viola is a 45 year member of The First Baptist Church and was employed by Sears, Food Town, Mercy Hospital and Penn Manor and by Independence Community College at the time of her death. Viola enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alan; and one brother, Kerwin Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Kurtis and wife, Lori Shobe, Galva, Kansas, Douglas Shobe, Independence, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Amber Shobe, Kansas City, Missouri, Shayne Shobe, Independence, Kansas, Mandy Shobe, Kansas City, Missouri, Michelle and husband, Michael, Allen, Chanute, Kansas, Mark and wife, Alisha, Shobe, Wichita, Kansas, Mitchel Shobe, Kansas City, Missouri, Betsy Shobe, Overland Park, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, Thayoden and Ryker Allen.
