William Thomas Clarkson left this earth on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, and joined his parents, grand-parents, and other family members in heaven.
Willian was born on January 5, 1941, to Jess P. Clarkson and Gennevieve M. (Hayes) Clarkson at Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas.
William lived all his life in Independence, graduating from Independence High School in 1959. He and his brother Jesse farmed for many years. William left farming and went to work in several places including the oil field and retired from the USD 446 maintenance department.
William was a special deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and helped start the Independence Rural Fire Department. He enjoyed many things including hunting for arrowheads, walking along Rock creek, fishing, and attending the sporting events at both the high school and ICC.
On January 9, 1982, he married Ruth E. Frith in Cherryvale, Kansas. With this marriage, he gained a son, Dan E. Frith, and a daughter, Bonnie M. Frith.
William is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; son, Daniel and his wife Monica of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Bonnie of Independence; one brother Jesse C. Clarkson and wife Eloise of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; seven grand-children; six great grand-children; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Cremation has taken place per William's request with Webb and Rodrick Chapel. The family will receive guest from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory 306 West Main, Independence, Kansas.
