Willidean Smith

Willidean A. (Bryant) Smith, 83, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 1:55 p.m. at her home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may register on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and memorials may be left at the Chapel.
Willidean was born January 7, 1932 in Sycamore, Kansas to Ray and Etta Mae (Smith) Bryant and she attended Independence schools. Willidean married Charles J. Smith on March 5, 1949 in Independence, Mr. Smith preceded her in death. The couple made their home in Independence where Willidean was employed as a housekeeper for Manor Nursing Home until her retirement.
Survivors include her five children: Charlotte M. Fetters (husband Vernon, deceased) of Eldorado, KS, Charles R. Smith and wife Sandra J. of Coffeyville, KS, Wanda C. Bechtle of Independence, KS, Starladina A. Paugh and husband Jim of Independence, KS and Pamela L. Raney and husband Marty of Independence. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Willidean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, 3 brothers; Alvin, Leonard and Warren (Hop), as well as four sisters, Delores, Leora, Lagaitia and Beulah and one daughter, Rachel L. Smith.
Webb & Rodrick Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
