Winifred Joyce Graham

Winifred Joyce Graham, 95, passed away December 23, 2023, at Deb Long-Thomas home in Liberty Kansas.   Cremation has taken place under the direction of Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. No services are planned currently. 

Winifred was born April 6,1928, in Platte, South Dakota to Helmer and Josephine Berthina (Romnerim) Peterson. After she graduated from the 8th grade she taught the younger children.  She attended and graduated from Platte Schools.  March 19,1983 Winifred married Ernest Graham in a church ceremony in Des Moines Iowa.  She became a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and caning, but the best was her delicious pies.  Winifred and Ernest enjoyed traveling and visited all US states including Alaska and Hawaii.  Together they visited Sweden, where her father was born, as well as many surrounding countries.  Winifred and Ernest enjoyed socializing, dinners with friends and square dancing for many years. Sundays they would attend her church Prince of Peace Lutheran as well as Ernest’s church Community of Christ.

Winifred was preceded in death by her parents, and 4 siblings. Winifred’s twin, Wendell Peterson 1928.  Rodney Lee Peterson in 2023, and his twin Roland Leo Peterson 1940, and one sister Opal Catherine Hosek in 2007.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Ernest of the home, step-daughters Debbora Long-Thomas of Liberty, Kansas and Diana Umbaugh of Winterset, Iowa.  Nephews: Lyle and Beth Hosek of Platte SD, Joe Peterson of Sioux City IA, and niece Linda Hosek of Platte SD, plus many extended family members.
