Wynnel Sophia Shoemake Wright 81, Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2023, at home. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday June 24, 2024, at Truth Tabernacle in Independence, Kansas.

Wynnel Sophia Shoemake Wright, born on May 31, 1943, in Graham, Texas, to Oleta Mae. Wynnel was a beacon of strength and joy in the lives of all who knew her. As the eldest daughter among seven children, Wynnel’s early years were split between the vast landscapes of Texas and Alaska, where she cultivated a spirit as expansive as the skies above her childhood homes.

On May 19, 1969, Wynnel united in love with her soulmate, Eldon Ray Wright. Their partnership was a testament to devotion, nurturing three children—Mikie, Gayla, and Derrick.

Wynnel’s heart was a wellspring of love, not just for her immediate family but for all who crossed her path. Her candid nature, fearless in speaking her mind and sharing her thoughts, endeared her to many. She was a stranger to none and a friend to all, her ornery wit a source of endless laughter and light.

Wynnel’s journey through life took her to diverse places—Alaska, Texas, Florida, and Kansas—each location enriched by her presence and the friendships she effortlessly cultivated. Her generosity knew no bounds; she was always there, doing something kind for a friend or lending a hand to families in need.

Wynnel took on many different jobs throughout life, but most her professional life was spent in service to faith, working diligently for the North Pole Worship Center and PromiseLand SanMarco. There, she took on administrative roles with gusto, often ‘bossing pastors around’ with a loving firmness that only Wynnel could possess.

Above all, Wynnel’s love for her children was eclipsed only by the fierce adoration she held for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a matriarch dedicated to creating lasting memories, ensuring that each moment spent together was cherished.

A prayer warrior, Wynnel’s faith was unwavering, her resolve to support those she loved unbreakable. On June 20, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family, Wynnel passed away peacefully in her home. Her legacy is one of laughter, love, and the courage to speak one’s truth—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us.

Wynnel Sophia Wright’s memory will be held in the hearts of those she touched forever. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on our world. Rest in peace, dear Wynnel. Your spirit lives on in the lives you’ve shaped and the love you’ve spread far and wide.
