Beverly J. Zimmerman, 88, Independence, Kansas passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 with interment to follow in the Lutheran Cemetery, Independence, Kansas. Friends may register from 10:00 a.m., to 6:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 with the family greeting friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Please send memorials in honor of Beverly to AWOL or they may be left with the chapel.

Beverly was born June 22, 1931 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Joseph D. and Emma P. (Barlow) Mercer. She graduated from Coffeyville, Kansas school. Beverly married Wayne H. Zimmerman on December 15, 1950 in Independence, Kansas. The couple then made their home in Independence, Kansas. Beverly owned and operated Zim’s Apparel on Laurel Street. After, she then operated Zim’s Enterprises which was a vendor route serving South East Kansas and North East Oklahoma along with being a distributor for the Kansas City Star News Paper. Beverly was employed by Tom Salter before becoming employed by Electra, and finally ACC Standard Motors for 21 years working in the 21st Street plant before moving to the Oak Street plant. Beverly was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was an animal lover and certainly adored her cats. Beverly also loved camping, fishing, and playing Dominos where she was known as the “Domino Queen” at Grand Villas. She’d even played her final game of dominos on Thursday before her passing. One of Beverly’s last big enjoyments was a meet and greet with the Oak Ridge Boys performing at Memorial Hall with a backstage pass.





Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years Wayne, one daughter Cheryl Hall and a granddaughter Amanda Zimmerman. Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Steve (Jacque) Zimmerman, Rogers, Arkansas; Kevin (Sue) Zimmerman, Independence, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Shane Zimmerman, Courtney McAlister, Brian Reedy, Ian Ennis, Erin Campbell, John Zimmerman, and Angela Zimmerman; 8 great grandchildren, Danielle Reedy, Austyn Cravey, Addison Cravey, Emma Cravey, Jason Shaw, Micah Bradley, Elizabeth Perkins, Kristin Perkins and Rana Zimmerman; two great, great grandchildren James Reedy and Zoey Shaw; two sisters-in-law Nina Brown, Cawker City, Kansas and Marcene ( Lynn) Tennyson, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
