Marilyn Gail Adams, age 91, passed away on Tuesday,September 29th 2020. Marilyn was born July 10, 1929 to Alva and Helen Marr in Elk City, Kansas. Marilyn was one of six daughters. She graduated High School from Elk City and attended Clerical school in Kansas City.

Marilyn married Samuel D. Adams in April 1950. Marilyn and Sam had three children Johnny, Sally, and Steven. Marilyn began working at First National Bank in Elk City once all of her children were in school and continued working there until the bank officially closed.  She then transferred to First National Bank in Independence, Kansas until her retirement.

Marilyn enjoyed bowling, quilting, cross stitch, crocheting and her flower garden. She was a member of the Independence Bowling League for many years. Marilyn also occupied her time with keeping books at Congregational Church.

Sam preceded her in death on May 29th, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents Alva and Helen Marr, sisters Joanne Trego, Helen Newton and Alma Marr and daughter Sally Cook.

Surviving her are two sons, Johnny (Jackie) and Steven both of Independence, KS; son-in-law Michael Cook, grandchildren Heather Schafstall (Bernard), Eric Adams (Tina), Crystal Taylor (Dwayne), Samantha Adams (Mike) and Doran Adams; sisters Sara Bright (Willard) and Carolyn Johnson (Richard). Marilyn was also survived by multiple great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Marilyn’s burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. There will be a graveside funeral December 12th at 11 am.
