Independence

Myrtle Edna (Rothgeb) Kramer, age 103, fell asleep in death Friday, June 17, 2022, at the home of her daughter Phylis Dozier in Independence Kansas surrounded with family.
Cremation has taken place with Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home.
Myrtle was born to Ira and Nettie (Hamilton) Rothgeb near Upola in Elk County Kansas on April 19, 1919. She attended school in Longton, Kansas, later in 1973 obtained her GED. At age 16 she moved to Wichita to work, later she married Philip Kramer on May 2, 1940, at the courthouse in Independence, Kansas. She worked at Mercy Hospital and Wilson County Hospital for several years as a CNA. In 1974 after obtaining her GED she attended Neosho County College getting her LPN license and worked at Wilson County Hospital from 1974 to 1981 when she retired. To this union 6 children were born. Twins Marilyn and Myrna Kramer both of Independence, Phylis L. (Bill) Dozier of Independence, John (Debbie) Kramer of Danbury CT, and Patricia (Joe) Mavaro of Easton CT. She was also blessed with 4 grandchildren: JoAnna Kramer of Independence, Robert Dozier of Bartlesville OK, Gregory (Jolene) Dozier of Independence, and Brian Dozier of Bartlesville OK. There are 16 great grandchildren and 14 great-great Grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Myrtle was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years where she enjoyed attending meetings and fellowships with members in Coffeyville, Kansas at the time of her passing.
Proceeding in her death are her parents, three brothers: Russell (DeeDee) Allen, and Delbert. And two sisters: Mary (Rothgeb) Buchanan and Viola (Rothgeb) Reynolds, and one son Philip Lynn.
Myrtle enjoyed family gatherings and having family and friends stop in to visit. She also enjoyed crocheting doilies and gifting these out, working cross word puzzles and writing letters to friends. She was always ready for a game of cards.
Family has suggested contributions to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Coffeyville, and the Longton Fair Association. These donations can be left at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home in Independence, Kansas.
A zoom memorial is planned for July 30, 2022, and a private family burial at Longton Cemetery the last day of October 2022.
