Dallas Beem

March 3, 1948 — June 1, 2020

Longton

Dallas Beem age 72 of Longton, Kansas went eternally fishing June 1, 2020. He passed at his home with his loved ones by his side.

Dallas was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado on March 3, 1948 to Rolland and Norma (Knedlik) Beem. The family made Longton their home when Dallas was in the 6th grade after moving from Hayesville. Dallas was a talented athlete and played basketball and baseball. He graduated from Longton High School with the class of 66. It was during his time in school that he met Judy Rothgeb and the high school sweethearts were united in marriage the following year. Dallas continued his education at Independence Community College, Wichita State University, and earned his degree at Pittsburg State University. Dallas began teaching at Eldorado Springs in 1971 he taught there for 4 years before moving to the Bella Vista Area. He and Judy would spend the next 20 years in Arkansas.  They started their family in 1973 with the birth of their oldest son, Darin followed by Jake in 1975. Dallas was an owner and operator of a contracting company in Arkansas specializing in excavation. He and Judy then moved back to the Longton area where he built his final home. In his semi-retirement he still operated a backhoe, dump truck, and carpentry business. Over the years Dallas raised many barns, put in many septic systems, hauled countless loads of rock, remodeled numerous homes, and anything else someone needed done. When he wasn’t working, you could bet he would be in the following 4 places; fishing, hunting, watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events, or watching the Royals and Chiefs (even through their bad years he was a loyal fan). Dallas had won many trophies over the years in various bass tournaments, he hosted the archery shoot at his home for a number of years, and he enjoyed golfing if he wasn’t in the mood to fish. Dallas was Dallas, what you see is what you get kind of man, he was intelligent, hardworking, fair, honest, and always willing to help if there was a need. He liked figuring out a challenge and always wanted his work to be of quality, he never cut corners.

Dallas’s memories will live on with his wife of 52 years  Judy, sons Darin Beem his wife Jennifer, Jake Beem his wife Rachele, brother Bruce Beem, sisters Sharon Ferguson her husband JR, Mona Cody her husband Ken, grandchildren; Cassidy, Coti, Joseph, and Emerie Beem, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

He now rests with his parents, brother Errol Beem and sister Joyce McBeath.
