James Eddie Boyd, 80, of Independence, Kansas passed away on September 8, 2020 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. James was the son of Ernest and Minnie Boyd whom are now deceased. He is the brother of 12 siblings.

James is the father of, Iona Boyd Carpenter; husband Cornelius Carpenter of Red Bird, Oklahoma. Cassandra Glass Alston; Husband David Alston of Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael A. Glass of Coffeyville, Kansas. Michael Boyd, James Boyd Jr., of Independence, Kansas. Tina Boyd Anderson; husband Cliff Anderson of Summit, Oklahoma. Daryl Boyd, Lamont Boyd of Independence, Kansas. Lamar Boyd of Wichita, Kansas, Tyra Boyd Robison of Nebraska, and Tyron Boyd Robison of Auburn, Maine.

James is the grandfather and great-grandfather of many grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

James worked as a crane operator at Sherwin Williams in Coffeyville, Kansas and later moved to Independence, Kansas and worked various jobs until his retirement.

His Church home is with the Church of the Nazarene in Independence, Kansas, in which he loved to attend and often times teached and preached at. His favorite past time was reading scripture and talking about the Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus.

To his children and church family he leaves this message: 2 Samuel 12:22.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2020 at the Church of the Nazarene with the Pastor Todd Reeder officiating. Private family burial will follow under the direction of the Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Friends may leave online condolences at www.webbrodrickchapel.com
